General WCC Product Information

WCC uses the latest developments in engineering and technology to produce outstanding driving vehicles for the most discriminating driver vehicles for all aspects of driving and for all occasions.

WCC combines innovative design solutions with an exceptional custom construction to produce carriages that can only be truly appreciated when driven. Among the advances, WCC pioneered setting the wheels at a negative angle to produce unsurpassed stability, safe driving through corners and across hills and practically eliminating swaying off the track.

Brakes:
On most all WCC we carriages use the world famous Brembo brakes. On the heavier carriages we use Bosch brakes.

Bumpers:
Side and front bumpers have been designed to withstand and facilitate a very fast drive through hazards. The carriage bounces off of hazards with ease and stays in its track.

Fifth wheel:
Equipped with a brake and a turn delay steering .

Pole:
With adjustable length, pole cover and shock absorber located inside the pole head.

Seats:
Both seats are fully adjustable, moving back and forth (similarly to in a car); in addition, the referee's seat can be easily removed and the whip's seat moved to the middle.

Springs:
Every spring is hand hammered (instead of being rolled); thus providing a superior spring that is longer lasting, resists damage and provides a better and smoother ride.

In WCC's marathons springs are tilted inward towards the axle. This design allows to preserve the optimum length of the springs to maximize their shock absorption properties (the longer the spring  the better the shock absorption), at the same time reducing the distance between the axles, for maximum compactness of the carriage.

Swingle tree:
Located deep under the front bumper and very high. As a result, horses can be hooked up very close to the carriage producing a very compact configuration. The swingle tree can be removed and each tree hooked up to a special pendulum connected by a chain to the front axle. This feature is used when driving on difficult terrain (muddy or sandy)  horses pull the carriage up, producing an easier forward drive.

Wheels:
Are set at the negative angle (i.e. the top end of the wheels is tilted towards the carriage), producing
• improved stability of the carriage
• safe driving through comers at higher speeds;
• Safe and stable driving across hills;
• practically eliminated swaying off the track.

The World Carriage Company pioneered the unique positioning of wheels which has proven so superior that other European carriage companies began copying WCC's design and incorporating it into their own carriages.
